Her background includes work in the education, civic, workplace, healthcare, and residential sectors. Her approach to design is rooted in working collaboratively with clients, the project team, and contractors to understand their unique goals and produce the most successful projects. Throughout her career, Amelia finds herself inspired by mentoring young designers, learning from their fresh ideas, and helping to develop their skills.
Originally from Holland, Michigan, Amelia recently spent the past 4 years in Atlanta, Georgia running her own residential interior design business. She worked with clients to renovate their homes, managing major renovations from plan development through construction. To begin her design journey, she attended Michigan State University, receiving her Bachelor of Arts in Interior Design in 2013 and received her NCIDQ certification in 2016.
Craving to work with a team again, Amelia was drawn to MMA as an admirer of our approach to design. When moving back to the midwest, working at MMA became a top priority.
Amelia’s design philosophy is based on the blending of styles to create more collected and interesting spaces. She believes that mixing found pieces, antiques, and materials with modern spaces adds depth and variety, while telling an exclusive story of the individuals that occupy the space. Working in various genres of design, rather than specific styles, allows for more unique development and individualized solutions, greater inspiration beyond the status quo.
Beyond her design career, Amelia enjoys spending time with her family, wilderness backpacking the national parks, visiting cities throughout the world, and engaging in the local design community. She is passionate about protecting the natural world, and adores exploring nature, while learning about ecosystems, and understanding the essential roles of plants and animals.
